Presently: SUNY Buffalo 2006 Topic: Research paper (pdf) Topic: Characterization of Phenotype and Function of T cells and Antigen Presenting cells About: This summer was very interesting and had me motivated. I worked at Columbia University Medical Lab. My department was “Heart Transplantation Immunology”. I felt very proud of myself because when someone asks me where I’m working at; I give the information and my department. Their response would be “What? What Is that? What do you do?” My job would be to give them a brief description about what I do and then hear how they would reply. What I enjoyed most about this whole experience was that my job includes hands on experience. It was a bit difficult to understand the language in the lab but after a while it was coming to me slowly and gradually. I was also impressed because I was able to work with real- life responsibilities of what some doctors go through. I found this internship a way to seek my interested in the future. Yes I do want to become a doctor but undecided of what to become. I’ve enjoyed having to work under different types of fields in medicine. Through the school year, I try finding myself internships where I can have a little knowledge on what different types of doctors are out there. Each day I went into the office at where I worked and I wondered what’s going to go on today. I walk in ready to work and understand the concepts of what’s going on. There are times where I wouldn’t understand everything or every little detail but I try to work my way around it. The most difficult thing in this internship was typing the final report. Yes I did complete what I had to do but it took time to actually complete it. Sometime I would stay overtime at the job just to work on my report or take care of any responsibilities that were given to me. But the best thing of all was that it worked for the best and I’m really proud of myself and what I did entirely. Dr. Bhattacharya, it was really nice working with you and being part of the Harlem Children Society. I really appreciated what you have done for me. I hope I made you proud of what I accomplished through the summer. I’m looking forward into working with you over the summer next year. |
